“Apple pie and coffee” part two
Attention! Some sort of sweet giddiness is guaranteed. Right after the last apple pie recipe, I’ll have another one for you. This time apples and cinnamon (Oh! what a surprise!) jump into a swirl of dough turning into *drum rolls* these moist apple pie rolls.
I love these fruity whirls. They can be prepared and baked in no time. You don’t have to wait which is normally the case for a yeast dough. But these fellas aren’t made with yeast. I found a nice and easy alternative which doesn’t need to rise before the baking process. Among other ingredients, you will need oil and quark. Quark? I know, you might not find that in your local supermarket. Don’t worry! You can easily substitute it with yogurt or a similar dairy product which has at least 20% fat.
Before giving you my recipe, I would like to explain the subtitle “apple pie and coffee”:
It’s more or less the title of one of my father’s anecdotes. And it is a German joke. My father’s version starts with a German politician who has to go to Great Britain but isn’t really able to speak the language. The only words he can speak without problems are “apple pie and coffee” … . My father tells this joke (it’s a bit longer, of course) every time we have appe pie for
coffee tea time. He told it when we had Granny’s apple pie and he would have told it while nibbling on these fruity rolls. But I have been faster. Hihi! Well, these four words are now a running gag and they even made it onto my blog.
ANd do you know what? You’ve made it too. Here is the recipe for easy-peasy apple pie rolls:
With this in mind,
Beware of the sweet giddiness.
