White Nougat

Do you have some time at hand? Maybe even a bit more? Fine! ‘Cause I tried something new. Something that needs a bit more of your precious time. It’s called white nougat (although mine didn’t really reach that whitish colour). Some of you might even recognize it as Italian torrone. Anyways, this super sweet and sticky treat is made of honey and egg whites and is mixed with nuts and dried fruits.

Roasted Almond Chocolates with Orange Liqueur

A cozy winter feeling is finally taking over our hearts by indulging all our senses. We’ve decorated our houses with fir branches, fairy lights and Christmas ornaments. We listen to Christmassy songs almost 24 hours a day. And countless scented candels fill the air with fragrant wintry flavours. So, there is only one thing left to top off the wintry coziness – a sweet little treat for our taste buds. It should be a typical christmas treat with all the flavours that pop into our minds while thinking about the best time of the year. Of course, we could bake cookies. It’s THE season for lots of cookies. But I am thinking about something else. Something you won’t need your oven for – Homemade roasted almond chocolates with a dash of Orang liqueur.

Mini Snow Flurry Cupcakes

I am dreaming of a White Christmas!

Yay! Finally! There is snow everywhere. At least in my little garden. IIt turned into a winter wonderland. For me, snow and Christmas belong together. Just like that song says: “I am dreaming of a White Christmas”. It’s about time, don’t you agree?  But it’s still a long time before Christmas and therefore I want to entrust these mini snow flurry cupcakes to you which, in a way, resemble the sudden start of winter.

Gingerbread Cake with Orange and Cinnamon Frosting

…Or would you love some sophisticated gingerbread squares?

Oops! The time has come! I am going crazy. Last time, I introduced the autumn season, and now you have to find a Christmassy cake on my blog. Just like those grocery stores which have aisles filled with christmas treats at the beginning of September.  Normally, I smile at this craze and avoid buying christmas stuff until decemeber… or at least until November…No chance! At the end of September I nibbled on my first piece of christmas stollen and ate a handful of spiced biscuits. Though, I avoided the christmas aisles, I found myself in the kitchen baking my own pre-christmassy christmas cakes. Hey presto! There they were. A huge gingerbread cake and smaller gingerbread squares glazed with an orange and cinnamon frosting.

Would you like the gingerbread cake or the gingerbread squares? Continue reading

Granny’s Florentine Biscuits

Every year at the same time (mostly during my cookie baking marathon) I have this catchy tune in my mind. It’s called “In the christmas bakery” (“In der Weihnachtsbäckerei”) and it literally describes the chaos in my kitchen while baking cookies.  But this song is not the only thing that is the only tradition kept during my baking marathon. I have a particular recipe for cookies that has to be made every year. Those of you who examined my blog more carefully might already have a clue.  I am talking about my granny’s Florentine biscuits.
