Granny’s plum squares with cinnamon crumbles

…or bye bye summer time! Hi there, autumn!

I don’t want to believe it. The summer is good as gone and autumn is already knocking on our doors. Fully clad in rain, wind and freezing temperatures. That isn’t the perfect way to say hello to us, dear autumn! You’ve got so much more (and even better things) to offer. What about stopping this stormy weather and giving us a basket full of your finest fruits and vegetables? One basket at each front door, please. Then we can bake and cook until our wooden spoon is on fire. Pumpkin soup, plum cake, apple strudel… I could go on for years. So, Are you ready for some autumn baking? Good, I’ve got a super moist treat for you – my granny’s plum squares with cinnamon crumbles.

Mango and Coconut Cake

Seeing these sad gray clouds and hearing the raindrops knocking on my window, I would love to take the next flight into a warm country. Being there, I would dig my toes into the warm sand and would wait for the waves to touch my naked legs. I would bathe in the sun like a reptile to recover enough energy for all the adventures that may come. Lucky me, there won’t be a holiday any time soon. So, I have to continue dreaming. And, I think, this delicious mango and coconut cake willsooth my soul and stimulate my fantasies.

Meringue with strawberries and pistachio cream

It’s unbelievable how time flies. A year ago on the tenth of July I blogged my first recipe. My little babay, Domi’s Bake Farm, is now one year old and this has to be celeberated properly. But how? Do I organize a contest with lots of prizes or do I spend this day in a more private way? It took me some time to decide. Although I would have loved to give you nice little presents for your loyalty, I opted for a small celebration with my loved ones instead. And when inviting guests for an afternoon coffee party, you need a cake. I didn’t want an ordinary birthday cake with a candle on top. No! I baked this meringue garnished with fresh strawberries and a pistachio cream.

Peach-Raspberry Frozen Yogurt

Oh man! Have you ever realized that we are seldomly satisfied when talking about the weather? It’s raining or snowing, we whine about it and wish for warm, sunny days.  And if the sun is finally shining relentlessly while sending up the temperature, we still aren’t satisfied. Now it’s too hot. To be honest I’ve got a headache from the warmth. But I tried my best to cope with it. I either spent my time in my cool basement flat or was sitting in the shadowy garden with an icecold cloth to cool my head. Of course, there are easier ways to get a refreshment. Instead of chasing shadowy or cool enough places, you could treat yourself with a homemade peach-raspberry frozen yogurt. I would like one right now. Unfortunately, I already ate my share a few days ago.

Apricot Pistachio Cake

Did you survive the Easter holidays? Honestly, I have eaten so much that I could have spend several days lying on my bed or couch without moving. Lying there spread-eagled and with stretchy leggings to make room for my newly developed belly. Even now, almost two weeks ago, the image of the Easter brunch makes me smile wanly. Nonetheless, I am craving pistachios. Yes! And I hope this paradisical apricot pistachio cake will stave off my hunger.
